We woke up at 7.00 a.m
to attended flag ceremony in the administration building of MMSU (Mariano
Marcos State University). We went there using bus together with our
coordinators. It was the first agenda for us, attended the flag ceremony and
have a chance to met the president of MMSU Shirley C. Agrupis came to president
room and took some photos with her.
After we finished various
activities in administration building then we went to Laoag to attended the
welcoming event. I felt amazed and proud with all of agenda that showed to us,
from the speech by President continued by the dean and also the coordinators
they given to us new information and knowledge about Philippines and also MMSU,
students also singing several song that comes from Philippines and also march,
hymn of MMSU.
Another things that
makes me felt amazed when students showed traditional dances from Indonesia
Tari Piring (traditional Minangkabau plate dance from West Sumatera) and Tari
Sabilulungan from West Java. Some of them learned it when they came to
Indonesia by followed Sea Teacher program. I was speechless heard that.
Philippines makes us
does not felt away from our home (Indonesia) because they presented to us
something special about Indonesia. I was also delighted to know that people
around me they were humble and friendly, they always shared a smile whenever
they we met each others and say hello. How nice they are.
When the welcoming
event finished. We went to go around passing through some places in Laoag city,
such as Muslim village, Paoay church, Robinson and others. We also visited
trade food. This exhibition also part of celebrating MMSU 41 Anniversary
Foundation and it will be closed at 2 February. There I and some of my friend
bought new sim card called Globe in order to have connection with internet.
It’s a happy day, this
is our first activity in Philippines, Batac city and we went back to the
mansion around 3 p.m to take a rest.
